Indexing & Archiving Policy

ESS Press is committed to ensuring the long-term visibility, discoverability, and preservation of the scholarly works we publish. This policy outlines our approach to indexing in academic databases and digital archiving of published content.

1) Indexing

ESS Press actively supports the indexing of its journals, monographs, and conference proceedings in reputable databases and directories. We aim to provide authors with maximum exposure to the global academic community.

1.1. Targeted Indexing Services

We pursue inclusion in the following indexing platforms, as appropriate per publication:

• Google Scholar
• Crossref (DOI registration)
• DOAJ (for open-access journals)
• ERIH PLUS
• ROAD (ISSN Portal)
• Scopus and Web of Science (for qualified series)

Each title is assessed for eligibility and indexed based on the respective database’s criteria.

1.2. Metadata Quality

We ensure structured metadata (including abstracts, author info, keywords, affiliations) is properly formatted and shared with indexing systems to maximize discoverability.

2) Digital Archiving & Preservation

2.1. Archiving Systems

To safeguard long-term access, ESS Press deposits digital content into trusted preservation systems. These may include:

• LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)
• CLOCKSS
• Portico (planned)

PDF versions of all published articles, chapters, and proceedings are stored in multiple locations and backed up securely.

2.2. Publisher Repository

All published content is archived on the ESS Press platform (https://www.ess.press) and remains permanently accessible under the assigned DOI.

3) Article Retention

ESS Press guarantees that all published material remains available and citable indefinitely, unless retracted for ethical reasons in accordance with our correction and retraction policy.
